We will exult and rejoice in you;
we will remember your love more than wine;
rightly do they love you.

5 I am dark, but still lovely, O daughters of Jerusalem,
like the tents of Kedar,
like the curtains of Solomon.
6 Do not gaze at me, because I am dark,
because the sun has looked upon me.
My mother's sons were angry with me;
they made me the keeper of the vineyards,
but my own vineyard I have not kept.
7 Tell me, you whom my soul loves,
where you pasture your flock,
where you make it lie down at noon;
for why should I be like one who veils herself
by the flocks of your companions?
5 I am black, but comely,
O ye daughters of Jerusalem,
As the tents of Kedar,
As the curtains of Solomon.
6 Look not upon me, because I am black,
Because the sun hath looked upon me:
My mother's children were angry with me;
They made me the keeper of the vineyards;
But mine own vineyard have I not kept.
7 Tell me, O thou whom my soul loveth,
Where thou feedest, where thou makest thy flock to rest at noon:
For why should I be as one that turneth aside
By the flocks of thy companions?

8 If you do not know, O fairest among women,
follow in the tracks of the flock,
and pasture your young goats
beside the shepherds' tents.

9 I compare you, my love, to a mare among Pharaoh's chariots.
10 Lovely are your cheeks with ornaments,

looking through the lattice.

"Rise up, my love,
my fair one, and come away.
11 For now the winter has past;
the rain is over and gone.
12 The flowers appear on the earth;
the time of singing has come,
and the voice of the turtledove is heard in our land.
13 (SS 2:10) The fig tree puts forth its green figs,
and the vines their blossoms;
and they give forth fragrance.
Rise up, my love, my beautiful one, and come away.

I held him, and would not let him go

and into the chamber of her who conceived me.

by the gazelles or does of the field,
do not stir up or awaken love

like columns of smoke,

7 Look, it is the litter of Solomon!
Around it are sixty mighty men,
of the mighty men of Israel,
8 (Ps 45:3; 91:5) all of them holding swords
and expert in war,
each with his sword at his thigh,
because of terrors by night.
9 King Solomon made himself a palanquin
from the wood of Lebanon.
10 He made its posts of silver,
its back of gold,
its seat of purple;
its interior was inlaid with love
by the daughters of Jerusalem.
11 (Isa 62:5; 4:4) Go forth, O daughters of Zion,
and see King Solomon with the crown
with which his mother crowned him
on the day of his wedding,
on the day of the gladness of his heart.

Like pillars of smoke,

Threescore valiant men are about it,
Of the valiant of Israel.
8 They all hold swords,
Being expert in war:
Every man hath his sword upon his thigh
Because of fear in the night.
9 King Solomon made himself a chariot
Of the wood of Lebanon.
10 He made the pillars thereof of silver,
The bottom thereof of gold, the covering of it of purple,
The midst thereof being paved with love,
For the daughters of Jerusalem.
11 Go forth, O ye daughters of Zion,
And behold king Solomon
With the crown wherewith his mother crowned him
In the day of his espousals,
And in the day of the gladness of his heart.

The Man

How very fair!
Your eyes are doves behind your veil.
Your hair is like a flock of goats,
streaming down the hills of Gilead.
2 (SS 6:6) Your teeth are like a flock of shorn ewes
that have come up from the washing,
all of which bear twins,
and not one among them has lost its young.
3 (SS 6:7; Jos 2:18) Your lips are like a scarlet thread,
and your mouth is lovely.
Your cheeks are halves of a pomegranate
behind your veil.
4 (SS 7:4; Ne 3:19) Your neck is like the tower of David,
built in rows of stone;
on it hang a thousand shields,
all of them shields of mighty men.
5 (SS 2:16; 6:3) Your two breasts are like two fawns,
twins of a gazelle,
that feed among the lilies.

and the shadows flee,
I will go away to the mountain of myrrh
and the hill of frankincense.

there is no flaw in you.

Depart from the peak of Amana,
from the peak of Senir and Hermon,

15 His legs are as pillars of marble, set upon sockets of fine gold:
His countenance is as Lebanon, excellent as the cedars.
16 His mouth is most sweet:
Yea, he is altogether lovely.
This is my beloved, and this is my friend,
O daughters of Jerusalem.

Why should you look upon the Shulammite,

What will ye see in the Shulamite?
As it were the company of two armies.

The curves of your thighs are like jewels,
the work of a master hand.

that never lacks mixed wine.
Your belly is a heap of wheat,

twins of a gazelle.
4 (SS 4:4; Ps 144:12) Your neck is like an ivory tower,
your eyes pools in Heshbon,
by the gate of Bath Rabbim.
Your nose is like a tower of Lebanon,
overlooking Damascus.
5 (Isa 35:2; SS 4:1 ) Your head crowns like Carmel,
and your flowing hair is like purple;
a king is held captive in the tresses.
6 (SS 1:15-16; 4:10) How fair and pleasant you are,
O loved one, with all your delights!
7 (SS 4:5) Your stature is like a palm tree,
and your breasts are like its clusters.
8 I say I will climb the palm tree
and take hold of its branches.
Oh, may your breasts be like clusters of the vine,
and the scent of your breath like apples,

It goes down smoothly for my beloved,
gliding over lips and teeth.

O prince's daughter!
The joints of thy thighs are like jewels,
The work of the hands of a cunning workman.
2 Thy navel is like a round goblet,
Which wanteth not liquor:
Thy belly is like an heap of wheat
Set about with lilies.
3 Thy two breasts are like two young roes
That are twins.
4 Thy neck is as a tower of ivory;
Thine eyes like the fishpools in Heshbon,
By the gate of Bathrabbim:
Thy nose is as the tower of Lebanon
Which looketh toward Damascus.
5 Thine head upon thee is like Carmel,
And the hair of thine head like purple;
The king is held in the galleries.
6 How fair and how pleasant art thou,
O love, for delights!
7 This thy stature is like to a palm tree,
And thy breasts to clusters of grapes.
8 I said, I will go up to the palm tree,
I will take hold of the boughs thereof:
Now also thy breasts shall be as clusters of the vine,
And the smell of thy nose like apples;

For my beloved, that goeth down sweetly,
Causing the lips of those that are asleep to speak.

and his desire is for me.

and lodge in the villages;

and the pomegranates are in bloom.
There I will give you my love.

The invitation for dinner from my church leader Harold and his wife, Pam,
warmed my heart, but also made me nervous. I'd joined a college Bible study
group that taught ideas that contradicted some of the teachings in the Bible.
Would they lecture me about that?
Over pizza, they shared about their family and asked about mine. They listened
as I talked about homework, my dog Buchi, and the guy I had a crush on. Only
later did they gently caution me about the group I was attending and explain
what was wrong with its teachings.
Their warning took me away from the lies presented in the Bible study
and close to the truths of Scripture. In his letter, Jude uses strong language
about false teachers, urging believers to "contend for the faith" (Jude 1:3).
He reminded them that "in the last times there will be scoffers . . . who
divide you . . . and do not have the Spirit" (vv. 18-19). However, Jude also
calls on believers to "be merciful to those who doubt" (v. 22)
by coming alongside them, showing compassion without compromising the truth.
Harold and Pam knew I wasn't firmly grounded in my faith, but instead
of judging me, they first offered their friendship and then their wisdom.
May God give us this same love and patience, using wisdom and compassion
as we interact with those who have doubts.

"I just can't do it!" Marlys, a career woman in her 30s, was struggling to fit
her new Christian principles into the business world. Accustomed to the
cutthroat tactics of the corporate hierarchy, she has a hard time knowing
Jesus' examples of grace and mercy applied.
Marlys was right. She couldn't do it. In our own strength, none of us is able
to "live the Christian life." Someone has said, " The Christian life isn't
difficult -- it's impossible!" Only the power of the Holy Spirit is
effective to work the needed changes in our priorities and behaviour;
only God can accomplish what he calls us to do.
In Phillippians 2:12, Paul says "work it out." If we stop there,
we are likely to throw up our hands in despair.
But the good news appears in verse 13:
" For God is the One working in you, both to will and to do His good pleasure."
WE are not left on our own to figure out how to live the Christian life.
God gives us both the will and the ability to obey him, to live in a way
that will please him.
The key to a God-pleasing life is not performance, but obedience. God does not
expect us to "do great things" for him, to deserve his love and grace.
Our part in the process of salvation is to respond in obedience to the Lord,
to say "yes" to what he asks of us. We cannot change ourselves;
we cannot even know ourselves apart from the Spirit's insight. But
as we cooperate with him, as we agree to be obedient, the Spirit changes us
within, and those changes are "worked out" into our lives.

Ontario has 55% of all of Canada's entire Muslim population. This means that
the whole of the Muslim world is represented somewhere in this province. Most
Muslims are understandably located along the southern border stretching
from Windsor eastward all the way up to Ottawa. Yet Muslims are constantly
resettling in more and more suburban and even small towns of Ontario. Mosques
are springing up, and where there are enough gathered, Islamic schools
are starting.
And they're not complacent, either. Many Islamic leaders are energetic in their
advancement of Islam in Canadian society. Recently in the Niagara Region,
the local mosque distributed via Canada Post as many as 50000 full-colour
brochures on Islam. An that mosque's Facebook page proudly show pictures of
"reverts", or white Canadians who have converted to Islam as a result of
receiving the flier and engaging with the mosque community. Another town
reports Muslims going door-to-door evangelism.

- the development of network leadership teams
- good connections with local pastors, congregations and individuals

When the new moon is sighted it marks the beginning of t he new Islamic month
and Eid al-Fitr, the "Festival of Breaking the Fast", will start! After 30 days
of fasting, the Eid celebration at the end of Ramadan is a joyful time that
usually lasts about 3 days. Muslims will buy new clothes, exchange gifts and,
of course, enjoy special foods. In Muslim-majority nations, the streets may be
decorated and festivals will be held.
For many Muslims, Eid-al-Fitr begins with communal prayers at daybreak and the
distribution of money (zakat) to the poor, which is one of the 5 pillars of
Islam.
You can greet Muslim friends during this time by saying "Eid Mubarak",
which means Blessed Eid!"
Ramadan is over for this year, but you can continue to pray for Muslims you
know, and Muslims around the world:
- Despite the unsettling developments in our world today that involve actions
in the name of Islam, there is at the same time a largely untold story about
unprecedented movement to Christ among Muslims. There have been more such
movements of thousands or more new disciples among Muslims in the last three
decades or so than in all the previous history of Christian Muslim
relationships! Pray for this momentum to continue.
Acts 2:12-17 : 17 "In the last days it shall be," says God,
"that I will pour out My Spirit on all flesh;
your sons and your daughters shall prophesy,
your young men shall see visions, and your old men shall dream dreams.
18 Even on My menservants and maidservants

the garment spotted by the flesh.
The invitation for dinner from my church leader Harold and his wife, Pam,
warmed my heart, but also made me nervous. I'd joined a college Bible study
group that taught ideas that contradicted some of the teachings in the Bible.
Would they lecture me about that?
Over pizza, they shared about their family and asked about mine. They listened
as I talked about homework, my dog Buchi, and the guy I had a crush on. Only
later did they gently caution me about the group I was attending and explain
what was wrong with its teachings.
Their warning took me away from the lies presented in the Bible study
and close to the truths of Scripture. In his letter, Jude uses strong language
about false teachers, urging believers to "contend for the faith" (Jude 1:3).
He reminded them that "in the last times there will be scoffers . . . who
divide you . . . and do not have the Spirit" (vv. 18-19). However, Jude also
calls on believers to "be merciful to those who doubt" (v. 22)
by coming alongside them, showing compassion without compromising the truth.
Harold and Pam knew I wasn't firmly grounded in my faith, but instead
of judging me, they first offered their friendship and then their wisdom.
May God give us this same love and patience, using wisdom and compassion
as we interact with those who have doubts.

"I just can't do it!" Marlys, a career woman in her 30s, was struggling to fit
her new Christian principles into the business world. Accustomed to the
cutthroat tactics of the corporate hierarchy, she has a hard time knowing
Jesus' examples of grace and mercy applied.
Marlys was right. She couldn't do it. In our own strength, none of us is able
to "live the Christian life." Someone has said, " The Christian life isn't
difficult -- it's impossible!" Only the power of the Holy Spirit is
effective to work the needed changes in our priorities and behaviour;
only God can accomplish what he calls us to do.
In Phillippians 2:12, Paul says "work it out." If we stop there,
we are likely to throw up our hands in despair.
But the good news appears in verse 13:
" For God is the One working in you, both to will and to do His good pleasure."
WE are not left on our own to figure out how to live the Christian life.
God gives us both the will and the ability to obey him, to live in a way
that will please him.
The key to a God-pleasing life is not performance, but obedience. God does not
expect us to "do great things" for him, to deserve his love and grace.
Our part in the process of salvation is to respond in obedience to the Lord,
to say "yes" to what he asks of us. We cannot change ourselves;
we cannot even know ourselves apart from the Spirit's insight. But
as we cooperate with him, as we agree to be obedient, the Spirit changes us
within, and those changes are "worked out" into our lives.

Ontario has 55% of all of Canada's entire Muslim population. This means that
the whole of the Muslim world is represented somewhere in this province. Most
Muslims are understandably located along the southern border stretching
from Windsor eastward all the way up to Ottawa. Yet Muslims are constantly
resettling in more and more suburban and even small towns of Ontario. Mosques
are springing up, and where there are enough gathered, Islamic schools
are starting.
And they're not complacent, either. Many Islamic leaders are energetic in their
advancement of Islam in Canadian society. Recently in the Niagara Region,
the local mosque distributed via Canada Post as many as 50000 full-colour
brochures on Islam. An that mosque's Facebook page proudly show pictures of
"reverts", or white Canadians who have converted to Islam as a result of
receiving the flier and engaging with the mosque community. Another town
reports Muslims going door-to-door evangelism.
Agree in prayer for:
- net network leaders - the need is great
- the development of network leadership teams
- good connections with local pastors, congregations and individuals
whom God is calling into this ministry.
- wisdom facilitating outreach and training activities for mobilising
believers
- new full and part-time workers among Muslims throughout all these areas
- for pastors and churches to respond not in fear, but full of faith and love
towards Muslims, sharing Jesus with them.

When the new moon is sighted it marks the beginning of t he new Islamic month
and Eid al-Fitr, the "Festival of Breaking the Fast", will start! After 30 days
of fasting, the Eid celebration at the end of Ramadan is a joyful time that
usually lasts about 3 days. Muslims will buy new clothes, exchange gifts and,
of course, enjoy special foods. In Muslim-majority nations, the streets may be
decorated and festivals will be held.
For many Muslims, Eid-al-Fitr begins with communal prayers at daybreak and the
distribution of money (zakat) to the poor, which is one of the 5 pillars of
Islam.
You can greet Muslim friends during this time by saying "Eid Mubarak",
which means Blessed Eid!"
Ramadan is over for this year, but you can continue to pray for Muslims you
know, and Muslims around the world:
- Despite the unsettling developments in our world today that involve actions
in the name of Islam, there is at the same time a largely untold story about
unprecedented movement to Christ among Muslims. There have been more such
movements of thousands or more new disciples among Muslims in the last three
decades or so than in all the previous history of Christian Muslim
relationships! Pray for this momentum to continue.
Acts 2:12-17 : 17 "In the last days it shall be," says God,
"that I will pour out My Spirit on all flesh;
your sons and your daughters shall prophesy,
your young men shall see visions, and your old men shall dream dreams.
18 Even on My menservants and maidservants
I will pour out My Spirit in those days; and they shall prophesy.
19 And I will show wonders in heaven above and signs on the earth below:
blood, and fire, and vapor of smoke. 20 The sun shall be turned into darkness,
and the moon into blood, before that great and glorious day of the Lord comes.

Pray to the Lord: "Father, I need Your wisdom and guidance to help those
who are being affected by false teaching. Please give me the words to say."
Pray to the Lord and pray to live the Christian life through Jesus.
Pray to the Lord and pray to be faithful in what the Lord gives you.
